SIALKOT, May 3: The district Nazim with the help of villagers caught three drug traffickers and recovered 60kg charas and 1.5kg opium from their possession here on Friday.
Nazim Naeem Javaid told newsmen he was coming from Chawinda when a car having a green number plate overtook them speedily. On suspicion, they signalled the car-riders to stop, but they accelerated the speed. When they were chased, their car collided with a van coming from the opposite side.
Car occupants left their vehicle and entered a nearby field. In the meantime, villagers also reached there and caught the traffickers. Some 60kg charas, 1.5kg opium and Rs76,000 in cash were recovered from them. Later, they were handed over to the Saddar police.
Those arrested are Inayatullah, Amjad Khan and Khalid Husain.
INDIAN SHELLING: Harvesting and sowing remained disrupted in border villages along the working boundary for the 20th consecutive day on Friday due to Indian shelling.
The Indian security forces continued intensified firing on Pakistani border villages in Chhumb Joriyaa (Gujrat), Bajwat, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Harpal, Jammu-Akhnoor, Saamba and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors. Standing wheat crop on 100 acres in the Jammu-Akhnoor sector reduced to ashes due to shelling.
When the Chenab Rangers returned the fire, the Indian troops fled towards their back defensive bunkers after leaving frontline positions.
