LAHORE, May 3: Robbers shot at and wounded a housemaid and made off with cash, gold ornaments, valuables, a car and three motorcycles worth over Rs7 million on Friday.

Gold jewels, cash, savings certificates and valuables worth Rs6 million were stolen from a house in the Canal View Housing Society in Hanjarwal.

Advocate Mohammad Asif Sial reported to the police that he and his family members were away from the house when the incident took place.

Mr Asif put the loss at over Rs6 million. He said the missing articles included cash, savings certificates, gold and diamond jewellery and valuables. A case in this regard was registered with no arrest.

Three gunmen burst into the house of Naeem Riaz in Sanda and held up inmates. The intruders collected cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs150,000.

Soon the miscreants left the house one of the inmates raised an alarm. Neighbours rushed to the house. On seeing the residents, the gangsters opened fire, causing serious injuries to a housemaid, Mumtaz, 16. The robbers escaped and the injured maid was rushed to the Mayo Hospital where she was stated to be in a critical condition till late night.

Two armed men intercepted Mujahid Ahmad in Model Town and drove away with his car (LPT-9733) and as many miscreants took away a motorcycle (LOZ-2382) at gunpoint in Ghaziabad. Two other motorcycles (LRA-5260 and LXH-4819) were stolen from Civil Lines and Gowalmandi.
