ISLAMABAD, April 28: President Gen Pervez Musharraf will address the nation on Monday at 8.30pm, it was officially announced.
He will make a final appeal to the electorate to vote in his favour for the continuity of his reforms.
The president, besides winding up his campaign for Tuesday’s referendum, would also touch upon the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision which has validated his actions after October 12, 1999, under PCO.
He is also expected to dwell at length on the political scenario which is to emerge after his election at the referendum.
When asked whether the much-awaited constitutional package would also be unveiled in the speech, the official sources said they had no idea. However, the president will certainly be giving hints about those amendments which concern with striking a balance between the powers of the president, the prime minister and the parliament.
The constitutional package, to be floated for the public debate, may come in the middle of next month, the sources said, “for which the president will again speak to the nation.”
