People bear the brunt of Wapda-TC row
SADIQABAD, April 28: Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) high-ups on Sunday got disconnected power supply to all the local tehsil council’s offices following a row.
It was learnt that Wapda officials got a case registered against tehsil council’s officials who had ordered demolition of walls and a mosque’s room at Wapda office on Saturday.
The sewerage system, water supply and street lights played hide and seek with people.
Wapda authorities claimed the council’s officials had ordered demolition over some personal grudge.
The municipal authorities, on the other hand, claimed Wapda was at fault.
The district administration was busy resolving the issue till late Sunday.
SHOT DEAD: A jeweller was shot dead by five dacoits on resistance in Noor market here on Saturday.
Muhammad Wasim, 25, owner of Zeeshan Jewellers, was busy mopping at his shop when five dacoits stormed in at 9am and shot at and injured him on resistance.
Wasim was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where he breathed his last.
The dacoits managed to escape by a car (RNC-7971) which they abandoned near Azad Nursery.
Later, scores of traders took out a rally near Fawara Chowk.
Condemning police inefficiency, they urged the high-ups to suspend DSP and other officials who took half an hour in reaching the site.
They also protested over delay in treatment to the trader by doctors at the THQ Hospital.
DEPRIVED: Swindlers pursed Rs170,000 by befooling three villagers into the trick of providing visas to Dubai.
Information gleaned by this correspondent revealed three residents of Mauza Thalawari Hafiz Allah Bakhsh, Rahmatullah and Samiullah tempted labourers Muhammad Shahid, Amjad Tabassum and Allah Bachiya of Amingarh locality to get a visa for Dubai.
The three workers sold their cattle for Rs170,000 and handed over the amount to the people.
The swindlers asked the workers to visit Karachi many times and at last handed over a fake visa to them.
The victims have filed a plaint with FIA director general to nab the culprits.
