Malakand dist council backs referendum

PESHAWAR, April 27: The district council Malakand in its session on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution supporting the president Gen Pervez Musharraf’s agenda of reforms and extended full support to him in the referendum and onwards in the implementation of his developmental as well as reformative strategy.

The session which held under the chairmanship of Convener Syed Ahmad Ali Shah Bacha was also attended by the district Nazim Engineer Mohammad Hamayun Khan and all the male and female members. Zakir Hussain advocate moved the resolution and sought members apprehension if any in their participation in the referendum which was fully endorsed by the house and it was decided that all the Nazims and councillors would come to the polling stations along with their voters, both men and women, and would cast their votes in favour of the president.

Some of the lady councillors raised certain complaints stating that they were being ignored in the district government affairs to which the district Nazim replied that none of the house members was being ignored but there were certain misunderstandings which were removed and the lady members were satisfied.

The district Nazim assured the lady members that equality would be maintained between the men and women members.

A Nazim raised a query that equal fund was not allocated to his union council to which all the other members stated that the district Nazim was doing every thing without any discrimination and the complaint of the house member was based on misunderstanding.

Many members criticized the member who raised complaint against the district Nazim and stated that such type of one sided queries would create anarchy in the house and would effect its sanctity.

It was demanded that such type of questions be forwarded to the code of conduct committee for action against that members. After clarification the member did not stress on his motion.
