Three prayer leaders booked

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 26: Gojra City police on Friday registered cases against three khatibs of different mosques on the charge of delivering provocative speeches.

Those booked under 16 MPO are: Maulana Noor Ahmad, Maulana Muhammad Latif and Qari Muhammad Sadiq. No arrest has so far been made.

TWO MURDERED: Two persons were murdered on Friday in different incidents in the district.

The body of an unidentified youth was recovered from an irrigation water course at Chak 332-GB. The deceased had several cut marks on his neck.

Meanwhile, unidentified assailants on Thursday night stoned to death Allah Ditta of Millat Colony, Gojra. He was asleep in his outhouse to look after the cattle.

LAWYERS: The defeated group of lawyers led by PBC member Mian Muhammad Afzal on Friday assured the Federal Privatization Minister that local lawyers would vote Gen Pervez Musharraf in the referendum.

The ruling group of the District Bar Association is however supporting the call of Pakistan and Punjab Bar Councils which are opposing the referendum.
