KARACHI, April 26: In a major upset for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf before the presidential referendum, provincial vice-president Dr Amir Ahmed Khan and secretary general Haji Younus Baloch, besides 41 other provincial, city and town leaders on Friday announced their separation from the party.

Earlier, after developing differences in the party rank, PTI Sindh chief Pervez Ali Shah had resigned.

The Pervez Ali Shah-led disassociated group in a press conference here announced to continue struggle from the platform of Sindh Urban Rural Alliance.

Dr Amir Ahmed Khan, expressing dissatisfaction over the leadership of Imran Khan, explained detailed background which led to his joining and later quitting of the party.

Asked about their support to the referendum, he said despite having reservations on its constitutional position, they still supported it. “Although we believe that the referendum is unconstitutional but this is the best option we have in the present situation,” he added.—PPI
