KARACHI, April 25: The doctors of Sobraj Maternity Hospital successfully operated upon a woman removing, from her abdomen, more than a decade-old fibroid tumour weighing about 10 kgs.

According to details, 45-year old Mrs Aziza was brought to the hospital last month from a remote village near Turbat with a protruding belly and suffering from nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, urination and abdominal pain.

She told the doctors at the SMH that her condition had been worsening for the last five years and she had developed progressive shortness of breathing.

Dr Shabeen Naz, Dr Hurrya Muffendi Dr Lajwanti and Dr. Saeed-u-Zaman of Sarfraz Rafique Hospital conducted, on the 18th of this month, an operation lasting for three hours, and removed a large fibroid measuring 36 x 40 cms and weighing 10kg along with the uterus and both the ovaries.—PPI
