KARACHI, April 24: Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) is conducting a Federation Open tournament from May 24-26 to select Pakistan team for the Commonwealth Games (CW) being held in Manchester.
Secretary PBF Tariq Rasheed told APP Tuesday that this was decided during federation’s executive committee meeting held recently.
He said that presently there is no national team champion and next national trials are scheduled for October, PBF to be fair with all bridge players in finalizing the names of the tournament for CW Games bridge which will be contested from July 15-20.
PBF secretary said, the three-day event is titled “Federation Cup” and will be played over 12 boards and seven rounds.
He said this was an open event and all teams were free to enter the competition. Thereafter Swiss League top four will qualify for the semifinals and winning team will earn the right for CW Games.
He said four to six member squad plus an official would be picked and added that the federation was trying hard to arrange funds for Pakistan team for Manchester.—APP
