KHAIRPUR, April 23: The activists of the Highways Employees’ Union, Khairpur, and the Muttahida Mazdoor Federation staged a rally here on Tuesday.

They were protesting against the non-payment of salary to 100 ad hoc employees of the highways department, Khairpur, for the last five years.

The procession started from the Highways Labour Hall and terminated at the DCO office where the protesters staged a sit-in.

They also presented a memorandum to the DCO demanding payment of salaries of the ad hoc employees and regularization of their services.

SUSPENDED: DPO, Khairpur, has suspended SHO and two ASIs of the Sorah police in the wake of a major robbery in their area.

Some unidentified armed robbed the occupants of several vehicles on Nara Road near Sorah, on Monday.

The police reached the scene of the incident too late.

In another incident, some unknown armed men robbed the occupants of several vehicles on Piryaloi-Pir jo Goth road.
