HYDERABAD, April 23: Hundreds of doctors and peramedics staged a protest rally here on Tuesday against the inordinate delay in the recovery of Prof Mohammad Hussain Leghari.
Doctors, belonging to different government and private hospitals of the city, professors, faculty members and senior executive officers of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, nurses, paramedical staff, house officers and medical students, participated in the rally.
The rally was led by the vice chancellor of the university, Professor Jan Mohammad Memon, and the president, PMA, Sindh, Dr Noor Mohammad Memon.
The rally started from the Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad, and after marching on the main city road, terminated at the press club.
Speaking at the rally, Professor Jan M. Memon, Professor Nazeer Ashraf Leghari, Dr Noor M. Memon, Abrar Kazi, general secretary of the Awami Tehrik, and others regretted that although eleven days had passed since the kidnapping of Professor Leghari, he had not been recovered by the law enforcement agencies.
They said that the kidnapping of a compassionate surgeon was shameful.
Professor Ashraf Leghari appealed to the medical practitioners and paramedical staff not to neglect the patients and emulate the kidnapped professor and serve the ailing humanity.
Dr Memon urged the government to mobilize the entire machinery to ensure the safe recovery of the kidnapped doctor.
Meanwhile, the doctors and paramedical staff of the Shah Bhitai Hospital, Latifabad, at a meeting condemned the kidnapping of Professor Leghari.
Speaking at the meeting Dr Aslam Shaikh, Dr Ziauddin, Dr Jameel and representatives of the paramedical staff, Yasin Khan, Saleem Khanzada and others, called upon the administration to make efforts to recover Professor Leghari.
They also appealed to the kidnappers to release Professor Leghari.
They also condemned the target killings of doctors.
