HYDERABAD, April 22: Over three dozen employees of the Sindhi Adabi Board (SAB) staged a demonstration under the banner of Press Employees Union outside the press club here on Monday to protest against the policies of the board.

Talking to newsmen, Abdul Qadir, Abdus Sattar Qureshi, Muhammad Bukhsh, Ali Raza Shah and others said the employees had never been denied bonus before, and were also given overtime and leave encashment.

However, they said, the present management of the board had not only taken no steps for its development but had also been disposing of the board’s assets, including vehicles and machines, at throw-away prices.

They complained that the workers had been deprived of all facilities, which they had been getting for years.

The protesters appealed to President Pervez Musharraf and Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro to save the board from total destruction and the employees from starvation.

They demanded that the salaries of the SAB employees, which had been withheld, be released immediately.
