KARACHI, April 22: The NED University of Engineering and Technology on Monday announced to hold pre-admission tests for Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Technology (BCIT) and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programmes.

According to a spokesman of the university, the entry tests on regular, self-finance and nomination categories for the academic session 2002-2003 would be held on August 3 at the university.

The tests shall be based on HSc curriculum in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and it will not need any extra-knowledge other than good preparations for the HSc examinations, he added.

He informed that NED University offers admissions to four-year BE under-graduate programmes in civil, mechanical, electrical, computer and information systems, textile, electronics, industrial and manufacturing and urban engineering. The university also offers four-year under-graduate programme of Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Technology and Bachelor of Architecture, he added.

Candidates who are domiciled in the province and have either passed their qualifying examinations (HSc pre-engineering or equivalent) or BSc with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible to apply for admissions whereas students awaiting results could also appear in the tests.

The spokesman informed that application forms for appearing in the tests would be available at the National Bank of Pakistan (NED branch) from July 3 to July 20 on payment of Rs400. The forms would be accepted along three passport-sized photographs, copies of SSc certificate, marks sheet, HSc marks sheet or HSc second-year admit card.

Details of admission programme would be available on the website of the university (www.netuet.edu.pk) after Intermediate (pre-engineering) results of various boards in the province are declared, likely in September.

Candidates, particularly overseas Pakistanis who are unable to take the entry test would also be considered for admissions provided they have taken SAT-I and SAT-II in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry examinations and have obtained scores of at least 800 and 1500.

The results of those examinations must be enclosed with the application form for admission.—PPI
