KARACHI, April 22: The CBR has initiated investigation against Sales Tax officials for the delay in the payment of refunds to businessmen.

This was stated by the member, sales tax (ST), Central Board of Revenue (CBR), Falak Sher while addressing the members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Monday.

He said that so far Rs16 billion have been paid to businessmen from Sale Tax Department but the complaints of delays were still existing.

Member ST said that the number of departmental auditors have been increased while the number of internal auditors were being reduced, keeping in view the complaints of businessmen regarding the audit by external auditors.—APP
