MIRPUR, April 21: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control observed the death anniversary of Allama Mohammad Iqbal on Sunday with a renewed pledge to continue acting upon the teachings of the philosopher for achieving liberation from India.
In occupied Jammu and Kashmir, special meetings were held in various parts under the aegis of social, political and freedom-fighters organizations to observe the anniversary, said a report reaching here.
The speakers paid glowing tributes to the Poet of the East for envisaging a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia.
They reiterated their determination to continue their struggle for freedom of their motherland from the Indian rule till the achievement of victory, the report added.
In the AJK, ceremonies were held in Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bagh, Rawalakot, Sudhanoti and Bhimbher and the speakers paid rich tributes to the poet-philosopher for giving the message of peace, brotherhood and harmony.
At a ceremony held under the auspices of the local Press Club, Kashmir Press Club President Sardar Jamil Sadiq, senior journalist Altaf Hamid Rao, Secretary-General Sayed Sajaad Hussain Bukhari and others said the best way to pay tributes to the poet-philosopher was by acting upon his teachings .
They said that the mission of the national heroes for a separate homeland of the Muslims of the Subcontinent was incomplete till the liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
They expressed full solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir in their struggle for liberation.APP
