Lucky Shot set to complete hat trick

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, April 20: Three-year-old chestnut colt Lucky Shot, who has already won two races consecutively, will be going all out to complete a hat trick of victories, during the 27th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse Sunday.

He is contesting in the third race of the six-event card for the penultimate Winter Meeting programme of the Lahore Race Club ending April 28.

The colt from Yasoob Again out-of-Miss Diva, Lucky Shot is in Superb form after gaining back-to-back success in his previous outings. He outclassed a field that included sprinters like Al Zarrar, Gold Hi Gold and Crysler two weeks back.

Though promoted in a better company, Lucky Shot should pick up the spoils to make it three in-a-row in a class VII division IV race to be run over the sprinting distance of six furlongs.

The feature event, Ravi Plate, class IV & V to be contested over a mile distance, has only six runners. Of then three look to be on chance. They are: six-year-old bay Admiral’s Way, four-year-old bay filly Gambling Girl and seven-year-old dark-bay gelding One Man Show.

On classification Admiral’s Way is a cut above the class vis-s-vis his five rivals. However, on handicap One Man Show can pose a big threat. Gambling Girl has not shown her form yet but is a well-bred filly. All three should fight for the top honours in this last race of the afternoon.

Prince Aly Khan Cup, a term race for class I, II and III contestants and the Rahwali Plate for class IV has been declared void for paucity of runners. Sutluj Plate, a term race for three- year-old colts and fillies has also been cancelled for want of entries.
