RAWALPINDI, April 20: Jamaat-i-Islami is set to kick off its anti-referendum campaign with its ‘Pakistan’s security caravan’, that will arrive here from Lahore on Sunday.

JI Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad will lead the caravan. This is the first step of the campaign that the JI plans to launch against the referendum. The rally will start in the morning from Lahore.

According to a JI spokesman, Qazi Hussain will address the participants and local activists at 15 cities.

The rally will culminate here with the Amir’s address at the Fawara Chowk.

A meeting, presided over by district JI Amir Mohammad Abbas Butt,  at the local JI headquarters finalised arrangements for the rally.

According to a spokesman,  the party’s General Secretary Syed Munawar Hassan and Punjab Amir Hafiz Hussain Ahmad will also speak. Some leaders of the allied religious parties will also join the caravan, he said.

At the meeting, Abbas Butt said the referendum was aimed at providing security to a man.
