11 Nazims back referendum

SANGHAR, April 20: The Nazims of 11 talukas and union councils of Sanghar district have announced their support for the presidential referendum.

A meeting regarding the referendum was called by Badin District Nazim Roshan Din Junejo here at the district council hall on Saturday.

The Badin district council members belonging to PML(F)-backed Faqir Dost Panel (FDP), PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel (ADP), Jam-Junejo Ittehad (JJI), Asad Junejo Group (AJG) and independent members attended the meeting.

Those who declared their support for the referendum in the meeting included the members of the FDP; Ghulam Rasool Wassan, taluka Nazim, Jam Nawaz Ali (JJI); Mohammad Saleh Junejo, Nazim, UC Jam Nawaz Ali (JJI); Hamid Ali Laskani, Nazim, UC Naoabad (JJI); Abdul Ghaffar, Nazim, UC Berani (JJI); Jafar Khan Junejo, Nazim UC Hingorno (AJG); Ismail Kumbhar Nazim, UC Ismail jo Goth (AJG); Ghulam Ali Kaloi, Nazim, UC Hot Wassan (independent); Pir Koral Shah, Nazim, UC Jatia (ADP); Ehsan Ali Shah, Nazim UC, Shahdadpur-I (independent); Yar Mohammad Gujjo, Nazim, UC Dhalyar (ADP); and Lala Ayub Pathan, Nazim, taluka Tando Adam (ADP).

The district Nazim directed the UC and taluka Nazims to constitute committees and make arrangements for bringing people to polling stations on the referendum day.

He said that 804 polling stations would be established in different parts of the district including 22 polling stations at railway stations, bus stops and other public places.

He said that corner meetings would be held all over the district to convince the people in favour of the referendum.

BANDITS: A gang of five bandits attacked Mir Paryal Talpur village in the jurisdiction of Jhol police late Friday night.

The bandits entered the house of Samyo Meghwar and beat him. The outlaws were asking for the whereabouts of the manager of a local landlord.
