GUJRANWALA, April 18: A district and sessions judge on Thursday ordered registration of a case against three policemen, including two assistant sub-inspectors, who allegedly produced ‘gur and cow dung’ instead of hashish in a case.
Sabzi Mandi police implicated one Mahmood Ahmad of Budha Goraya village in a narcotics case on August 24, 2001. Police said in the FIR that two kilograms of hashish was recovered from his possession.
The judge summoned the investigating officers, ASIs Muhammad Mansha and Muhammad Azam, and Moharar Ali Ashraf of the police station during hearing of the case and asked them to open the sealed packets of hashish in the court. When they opened the packets, it was gur and dung instead of hashish.
The court ordered that the police officials be handcuffed and ordered registration of a case under sections 420, 468 and 471 PPC.
