KARACHI, April 18: Two out of the five labour courts in the city are vacant, and work in the third court is also not progressing as normal as the presiding officer has been given an additional charge.
The presiding officer of the Labour Court No II, Feroz Mazhar Ali, was transferred in October, and another presiding officer has not yet been posted in the court. More than 500 cases are pending in the court.
The presiding officer of the Labour Court No V, Syed Ali Mohammed Rizvi, has been transferred to the Labour Court No III in February. More than 550 cases are pending in the court No V, where no officer has been posted since the transfer.
The presiding Officer of the Labour Court No IV, Mr Tulreja, has been given additional charge of Registrar of the Sindh Labour Appellate Tribunal in February, after the registrar, Sarwar Ali Khan, retired. Since the registrar of the Tribunal is a comparatively more important position, Mr Tulreja gives it more time.
