PESHAWAR, April 18: Victims of Lead Cooperative Society scam have asked the President Pervaiz Musharraf to help them in recovery of their plundered money.

The victims said that the president had been taking interest in resolving the social problems and should help them to recover their money as most of the victims were poor and had lost their life-long earnings to the management of the said society.

Despite the lapse of more than a decade, the victims were still waiting for their money to be returned. The sufferers have had a long struggle for the recovery of their lost money but none of the government could help them in this respect.

The total outstanding amount of the investors from Peshawar comes to Rs 23.30 million. They feared that the society’s office bearers might have left the country.

More than a decade back, the Lead Cooperative Society was registered in Islamabad with the Department of Food, Agriculture and Cooperatives. It offered very lucrative and attractive packages, which caught the attention of a number of people, especially retired government officials who were interested  in investing their life’s earnings in  similar projects.

In Peshawar the total number of account holders were 162. The society had opened two offices in the provincial capital. One of the office was at Shawal Hotel, G. T. Road and the other one was at Pir Alam Market.
