MULTAN, April 17: The employees of the boards of intermediate and secondary education in the Punjab observed on Wednesday strike against non-payment of salaries according to the revised pay scales.

The Multan BISE Employees Association office-bearers urged the Punjab governor to take stern action against all the chairmen of BISEs.

“The chairmen created the situation which forced more than 5,000 employees to go on strike,” they said.

FAISALABAD: No employee of Faisalabad BISE performed official duties on Wednesday. Some of them were wearing black armbands.

A protest meeting was also organized by the Employees Welfare Association. Speaking on the occasion, association office-bearers demanded that the Punjab governor should direct the authorities concerned to pay salaries to the employees of all BISEs in the province according to new pay scale.

They threatened that if their demand was not met within next 24 hours, they would come on roads.

It was learnt that owing to the strike, the preparation of the result of the secondary school certificate annual examination has stopped. It is feared that the annual examinations of FA and FSc, to be commenced from next month, would also affect if the strike is continued.

GUJRANWALA: All employees of Gujranwala BISE observed complete strike.

Speaking at a meeting, BISE Employees Welfare Association president Bashir Ahmad said that the strike would be continued till the payment of salaries according to new pay scales.

He said that all BISEs in the Punjab generate funds. But the employees were being denied increase in their salaries.
