Dacoits injure lawyer

CHINIOT, April 16: Dacoits on Tuesday took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs250,000 and injured a lawyer in two strikes in Satellite Town.

Six dacoits stormed into Tasneem Chaudhry’s house, held up the inmates and fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs250,000.

At around 3am, the same gang burst into advocate Mulazim Husain Jappa’s house, held him up and demanded keys to the safe. Meanwhile, Jappa overpowered one of the intruders. Trying to rescue the colleague, the armed men attacked the lawyer, injured him and fled.

Later, the Chiniot Bar Association observed a token strike to condemn the incident.

KILLED: Two persons were killed when a bus ran over them here on Tuesday.

Muhammad Habib of Ghafoorabad locality and Punno of Rao Bagh village were working along the road when a rashly-driven truck (ZBT-898) ran over them.

Edhi ambulances carried the bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

INAUGURATE: Communica-tion and housing provincial minister Lt-Gen Muhammad Tariq (retired) will inaugurate the MC Primary School No 5, Mohalla Thatti Gharbi, at 9am on April 18.

Jhang district Nazim Hamid Sultan will preside over the function while Chiniot tehsil Nazim Sardarzada Zulfiqar Shah will be the chief guest.
