TOBA TEK SINGH, April 16: The Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP) will produce machinery and implements with the technical assistance of Japan, Holland, Italy and Turkey.

This was stated by ADBP Head Office Executive Director Amanullah Shaikh while speaking at a seminar held in Chak 405-JB on Tuesday.

He said the bank had earmarked an amount of Rs4 billion for the purpose while repairs of machinery would cost half the price than being spent in foreign countries.

He assured the products would be provided to farmers on easy instalments. Agriculture experts would be appointed in all the regional ADBP offices to train the farmers on technical lines, Mr Shaikh added.

The machinery to be produced included sugar cane planter, fertilizer spreading machine, battery operated sprayer, fruit picker and fodder cutter, he concluded.

Regional bank managers, Chaudhry Muhammad Younis (Faisalabad), Chaudhry Bashir Ahmad (Jhang) and Amjad Husain Chaudhry (Toba Tek Singh), were present on the occasion.

RELEASED: As many as 10 activists of various banned outfits were released from the local district jail on Tuesday.

Arrested on Jan 12, the activists were detained for three months under the maintenance of peace ordinance.

Those released were Maulana Tahir Farooqi, Qari Muhammad Javed, Hafiz Muhammad Abdullah, Maulvi Muhammad Saeed Pappoo, Abdul Khaliq, Hafiz Mumtaz Husain, Rana Zaheer Farooq, Qari Abdul Ghafoor, Muhammad Yousaf and Muhammad Farooq.

STRANGULATED: A woman was strangulated by her husband on Tuesday over a domestic dispute in a village near Arrouti.

Ahmad Ali married to Asiya a couple of months back. However, soon she returned to her parents’ house in Mauza Kot Karam following an exchange of harsh words with husband.

Ali visited the house to take her back home. On her refusal, he burnt some parts of the wife’s body and strangulated her.

Police are in search of the culprit.
