Man kills wife over suspicion

SHEIKHUPURA, April 16: A man allegedly strangled his wife over suspicion of bad character in Syedwala on Tuesday.

Zubaida had reportedly developed relations with a youth of the same locality. Her husband Jahangir had forbidden her to meet the youth.

On Tuesday, Jahangir saw Zubaida with her lover and became furious and strangled her.

Police have registered a case against Jahangir who is still at large.

DRUG PUSHER HELD: Sadar police claimed to have arrested an alleged drug smuggler.

A police spokesman told newsmen on Tuesday that Sikandar was reportedly involved in many incidents of dacoity and murder besides narcotics smuggling. He had been declared a proclaimed by a court, he added.

He said Sikandar had fled to Dubai to escape prosecution. He had returned to Pakistan recently and took shelter in Khanqah Dogran.

Sadar police got information about his hideout and arrested him without any resistance, he added.

The spokesman said police besides seizing sophisticated weapons also recovered huge quantity of heroin, hashish and other contraband from Sikandar’s possession.
