SIALKOT, April 16: The local tehsil council has decided that it will enhance various taxes from 20 to 50 per cent.

At a meeting presided over by tehsil Naib Nazim Mahmood Ahmad Warraich on Tuesday, the participants reviewed pros and cons of enhancing taxes.

They decided to enhance water rate tax from 20 to 25 per cent, Rs100 a cinema show, industrial and agricultural exhibition Rs2,000 a day, 100 per cent enhancement on advertizing board, circus show Rs2,000, private hospital Rs10,000 per annum, private school Rs5,000, furniture show room Rs5,000 and car show room Rs10,000.

They have enhanced map fee from 30 to 52 per cent and entry to the Gulshan Iqbal Park 50 per cent.

KILLED: A youth was killed while two villagers sustained injuries in Indian shelling on various sectors of the Sialkot working boundary.

Sources told Dawn on Tuesday that Amanat Ali, 24, was sitting outside his house in Matwal village (Chaprar sector) when the bullets hit him. He died instantly.

Meanwhile, Nathu Khan and Rehmat bibi sustained injuries when Indian troops shelled Shakargarh and Bajwat sectors, respectively.

Rehmat was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), they concluded.

TWO PERISH: Two persons were killed while three minors sustained injuries when a bus, carrying a marriage party to Head Marala, dashed against a tree near Khajurwali village on Tuesday.

The rashly-driven bus (LHH-4411) veered off the road and rammed into a tree when the driver reportedly lost control over the steering.

Two of the bus occupants Asif and Amir died on the spot while Fayyaz (11) and Naveed and Qasim (10) sustained grievous injuries.

The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.
