MULTAN, April 15: Employees of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education observed a three-hour strike on Monday for not giving salaries in accordance with new pay scales.

They will again observe the three-hour strike on Tuesday and a complete strike on April 17.

BISE employees were to observe the strike on April 4, but they postponed it till April 8 when the Punjab Board Committee of Chairman assured them that their salaries would be given according to new pay scales. On April 7, they again postponed the strike for a week when the education secretary assured them of meeting their demand.

Talking to this correspondent, Multan BISE Employees Welfare Association president Sajjad Baloch said as BISEs in Punjab were autonomous bodies, they could themselves increase the salaries of their employees. He held the PBCC responsible for not increasing the salaries and the consequent strike observed by them.

meanwhile, the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education staff also went on strike in protest against non-payment of salaries according to new pay scale.

They gathered in the office compound where Employees Welfare Association president Bashir Ahmad Cheema addressed them.

He said the BISEs generate funds by themselves and it was legal right of its employees to get their salaries in accordance with new pay scale.

The striking staff pledged that they would continue strike till the acceptance of their demand.

It is feared that preparation of secondary schools certificate result and annual examination of FA/FSc could be suffered if the workers’ demands are not met.
