DERA ISMAIL KHAN, April 15: Wapda consumers here have complained of excessive billing, harassment by Pesco staff and wrong assessment by the power utility staff.

The consumers alleged that they were being made to pay excessive amount by the Wapda authorities to lessen utility’s line losses which were mainly caused by the Pesco staff itself.

Recently, the Pesco staff has sent a bill of thousands of rupees to a mosque as assessment/ fine.

The Qazianwali mosque (Account No.12-6631-06990000-01), which is located in the centre of the city and is not supplying power to any other residential consumer or shopping unit, has been fixed up and a heavy amount has been included in its bill as assessment charge.

Social and religious circles have condemned Pesco’s attitude of targeting mosques and demanded of the authorities to rectify the situation.
