SIALKOT, April 13: The Daska city police on Saturday night arrested Maulana Feroze Khan, the naib amir of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Samiul Haq group), from Darul Aloom Madnia, Daska Kalan, for speaking against the presidential referendum in his Juma sermon.
The police registered a case against him under MPO 16 and sent him to the Sialkot district jail, immediately, averting any possible protest by the party workers.
Eyewitnesses told Dawn that a large contingent of police surrounded the Darul Aloom Madnia and took Maulana Feroze in custody.
No political or religious party has yet protested against the arrest.
