SHIKARPUR, April 12: A member of the taluka council Shikarpur called off their token hunger strike on Friday after five days when the Taluka Naib Nazim, Syed Aijaz Ali Shah, informed the strikers that the district Nazim had approved some schemes costing Rs6.20 million for Shikarpur Taluka and had assured to give preference to other schemes lying with the district council for approval.

Addressing a press conference at the camp, Mr Shah said that they had been elected by the people to represent them and the implementation over the development schemes in the areas was their responsibility for which they had been striving and the token hunger strike was part of fulfilling this responsibility.

He threatened to go on strike again if the district Nazim ignored their schemes and tried to create confusion between the people and the dwellers of their constituencies.
