Wapda stops school bus service

Published April 12, 2002

GHAZI, April 11: The local staff of Wapda and their children on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration and blocked the main road against the decision of Wapda authorities to close the school bus service for the staff children.

The school bus used to pick and drop the children of the local staff members at different schools of Ghazi for the last 30 years. The service was closed a few days back.

The protesting children and their parents staged a sit-in on the road in front of the superintending engineer of Ghazi Barotha against the decision and raised slogans against the Wapda authorities.

Later, the sit-in turned into a public meeting, which was addressed by social workers and labour leaders of the areas.

The speakers criticized the Wapda authorities and termed the action unjustified. They said that the authorities first brought anti-labour policies and now they were committing excesses against the innocent school children.
