Payment of pension delayed

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, April 11: Sanitary workers and other retired staff of union councils of Padidan, Darya Khan Mari and Naushahro Feroze have not been paid their pension and commutation amount even after a lapse of about two years.

The general secretary of the labour union, taluka council, Naushahro Feroze, Kishan Raja, retired sanitary workers Qadir Bux alias Pero, Ramzan Shaikh, and others told newsmen that they had not yet been paid their pension commutation totalling Rs800,000.

They have also not been paid their monthly pension for last two months.

Regular sanitary workers of Darya Khan Mari town committee, now UC, said that their monthly salary had been paid with gaps since 1997, and that Rs1.200 million, the amount of monthly salary, was due for the period in between 1997 to June 2001, had not been released by the government of Sindh.

They said that even at present amount of monthly salary for all staff was Rs0.095 million, but amount received every month was Rs0.059 million since July 1, 2001.

The sanitary workers of UC Padidan complained that their salary dues Rs0.350 million, for the period of 1997 to June 2001, had not been paid to them.

When officials concerned were contacted, they confirmed the facts and said that the matter of pension and commutation amount was taken up with the higher authorities from time to time, but there was no response.
