KARACHI, April 10: The management of Convent of Jesus and Mary School, Clifton, Karachi, has decided to refund the funds obtained from parents to purchase a bungalow on a plot adjacent to the school.

The decision has been conveyed to the parents as well as the Sindh education department in writing by Sr. M. Andrew Sequeira, principal of the school.

In a letter addressed to Muhammad Ali Mangrio, deputy secretary education department, the principal has stated that since the purchase was no longer possible for various reasons the funds were being returned.

In a separate circular to the parents, the principal stated that the school administration had participated in the bidding process, but its offer had been substantially exceeded by others. Therefore the only proper course of action was to return the money.

The principal regretted that false information regarding the entire matter was provided to the education department which had sent a letter to the school administration questioning the collection of funds from parents to purchase the bungalow.
