OKARA, April 7: The pro-government political parties and social organizations are motivating the people to attend the public gathering at Minar-i-Pakistan, Lahore, on April 9.

PML(Q) district organizer and former MNA Rao Qaiser Ali Khan, former MPAs Muhammad Arif Chaudhry, Syed Afzal Ali Shah Gilani, district Nazim Syed Sajjad Haider, tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Nadeem Abbas Rubera, PML youth wing president Sheikh Shahbaz Shaheen, Tehrik-i-Insaf city president Ali Imran Chaudhry are busy in gaining support for referendum in their door-to-door campaign.

In all three tehsils — Okara, Deepalpur and Renala Khurd — and small towns like Hujra Shah Muqeem, Basirpur and Gojra, banners have been displayed in favour of president Pervez Musharraf and referendum.

Meanwhile, anti-government parties have also initiated their public campaign against the referendum. Okara district JI amir Capt Dr Liaquat Ali Kausar (retired) has termed the government-sponsored referendum unconstitutional.

Similarly, workers of the PPP, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and other parties of the ARD have also begun their corner meetings against the referendum.
