KARACHI, April 6: Pakistan shooters will be featuring in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games later this year, a spokesman of National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) said Saturday.

He said an eight-member Pakistan squad will be taking part in the Manchester Commonwealth Games being staged there from July 29 to Aug 14. The squad will include two officials.

The sharp shooters will figure in pistol, rifle and shotgun events of the games which will be conducted at Bisley near London.

Following the Commonwealth Games, an 11-member squad including two officials will participate in the Asian Games in Pusan (South Korea). Pusan Asian Games will be staged from Sept 29 to Oct 14.

The spokesman further said that NRAP through Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) was trying to hire two foreign coaches Vicktor Sivkov and Kaminasky from Ukraine in preparations for Commonwealth and Asian Games.

Both these coaches supervised Pakistan’s training and coaching camp in preparation for the October’s South Asian Federation (SAF) Games which were cancelled after September 11 strikes in New York and Washington in USA.

SAF Games will now be held in Islamabad next year from March 29 to April 7.—APP
