Around 130 members of the society from all over the AJK participated in the polling, which was held at a local hotel here.

Those elected included MLA Munir Awan, Maj (retired) Gul Zaman Awan, former legislative assembly speaker Syed Shoukat Naqvi, Ali Shah Bukhari and Amira Batool from Muzaffarabad, Tasaddaq Gillani and Abdul Aziz Sabri from Mirpur, Sardar Mushtaq Khan from Palandari, secretary to government Sardar Siddique Khan from Poonch, Syed Sharafat Ali from Kotli, social welfare department director Sakina Bukhari and local government’s superintending engineer Syed Zaheer Gardezi from Bagh.

Apart from them, the society’s chairperson, MLA Shireen Waheed, and secretary Syed Sarfraz Hussain Shah are also members of the managing body by virtue of their office.

Three more members — secretaries for health, social welfare and education — will be officially notified by the government as members of the managing body also by virtue of their office.

The managing body later elected Sardar Siddique as the vice-president and Amira Batool as the vice-chairperson of the society.

Fifty people were named from different walks of life for good volunteering and institutional support, while 11 others were named for good governance, management and cooperation.
