ISLAMABAD, April 5: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), Rawalpindi-Islamabad chapter brought out a protest rally in the twin cities after Juma prayers to show solidarity with their Palestinian brethren and condemned the Israeli atrocities.
The protest in Islamabad was held outside the Lal Masjid, where the MMA leaders, a coalition of six religious parties, said Pakistan, despite being an active partner of the US in the on-going war on terrorism, had failed to register its protest over the reign of terror unleashed by Israel against the Palestinians.
A Muttahida leader, Gul Andaz Khan, said sooner or later Israel would have to accept Palestinians’ right to self-determination no matter, what atrocities Israel may commit to stop this movement.
He said, the international coalition, led by the US, had embarked on ethnic cleansing of Muslims all over the world, be it Palestine, Bosnia or Kashmir.
Mualana Abdul Hamid said, “what is happening in Palestine is because of the indifferent attitude of the Muslim countries towards Israeli aggression against Palestine.
CPC: Citizen’s Peace Committee (CPC) also staged a protest rally at Aabpara Chowk to condemn the Israeli brutality in the occupied territories of Palestine with the complicity of the US. In a peaceful demonstration, pacifists from non-governmental organizations demanded immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories and asked the US to stop its immoral and unconditional support for Israel.
The protesters without creating any traffic hazards, stood around with placards reading: “It is war of liberation in Palestine not terrorism”, “Stop Zionism, Nazism”, “Stop terrorism in south Asia.”
In a statement distributed on the occasion, the CPC said that an unelected regime had deliberately allowed fanning the animosity on sectarian basis and termed the recent detention of suspected extremists, a mokery, specially since some of them were being provided a substantial monthly compensation on court orders.
In Rawalpindi the MMA at a rally condemned Israel and Indian terrorisms in Palestine and Kashmir and asked the UN to force both the countries to withdraw their troops from these regions.
