No pullback from LoC: Fernandes

SRINAGAR, April 4: India will not withdraw troops from the Line of Control and the border with Pakistan because Islamabad has been insincere in its crackdown on guerillas, Defence Minister George Fernandes said on Thursday while on a visit to occupied Kashmir.

“Pakistan’s intentions are not sincere. It continues to sponsor terrorism in (held) Jammu and Kashmir,” Fernandes said after chairing a meeting of held Kashmir’s Unified Headquarters, which devises the Indian government’s strategies against freedom fighters.

“Unless things at the borders stabilize, troops would not be withdrawn back to barracks. They are detailed for a specific task there.”—AFP
