THATTA, April 04: Hundreds of fishermen took out a big procession in coastal town Jati to protest against the growing trend of Sea piracy and staged a sit-in in front of the office of DDO(revenue) here on Thursday morning.
The fishermen gathered in the town from oceanic creeks, Kamro, Kunjagioon, Seer Creak, Khado Bandar, Zero Point, Kodarion, Qadir Dino Shah and Shahbandar and hoisted black flags on their fishing vessels.
They had gathered there on the call of the “mahigheer Action Committee”.
The fishermen, who were holding placards and black flags, raised slogans in favour of their demands.
They also marched through the main places of the town and staged a two hours sit-in at Fazil Chowk which resulted in suspension of vehicular traffic on Jati-Sujawal and Jati-Chohar Jamali roads.
Speaking on the occasion the leaders of fishermen, Abdul Rehman Themore, Noor Mohammad Themore and others said that they would fight against those who were depriving fishermen of their legitimate income and knock at the door of law.
They said the poor fishermen were being deprived of their catch, by a contractor, who claimed that he had been deputed by Rangers in the sea and if they did not share the catch, they would be declared the agents of RAW.
