CHINIOT, April 4: The local old tehsil building has become a centre for too many trade with time, it is observed.
The building was constructed by the provincial buildings department in 1953 for the offices of tehsildar and revenue staff. A court of tehsildar, dealing with revenue matters, and offices of its staff were set up in the same building.
Later, a court of civil judge was established in one of the building’s rooms for want of government buildings. Gradually, more judges were posted over there and the staff was recruited.
At present, some four courts of civil judges, a tehsildar’s office, four naib tehsildars’ offices and an office for qanoongo have been functioning in the building. Treasury of tehsil is also there.
In the working hours, officials, applicants, accused, policemen and lawyers throng the corridors. Excessive rush and congestion make smooth functioning impossible.
There is a need for proper building for the judicial staff so that the visitors can get their problems resolved with convenience.
