ISLAMABAD, April 2: A peace conference organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has asked the government to review its policies in order to ensure the sovereignty of Pakistan without compromising its honour and dignity.

The resolution adopted by the peace conference in its concluding session stated that no military operations in Afghanistan or any other country should originate from Pakistani soil and that all foreign forces be asked to leave immediately.

The concluding session, which was presided over by SCBA president Hamid Khan, suggested that the government should pursue independent foreign policy without being overawed by foreign powers.

The conference held here at a local hotel expressed concern over the indifference shown by the international community towards millions of Afghan refugees languishing in refugee camps in Pakistan.

It also criticized the US, Russia and western countries for abandoning the Afghan refugees and by burdening the limited resources of Pakistan for feeding and accommodating these refugees.

It was felt that globalization was causing havoc on the economies of the Third World countries and unfavourable terms were being imposed by the rich countries on them.

Every nation must be allowed to participate in the process of building a just and equitable world economic order.

It also condemned India and Israel for their policy to crush freedom movements in Palestine and Kashmir.

It deplored US’s brutal acts of war in Afghanistan. The conference condemned state terrorism by Israel on the people and government of Palestine in total violation of the UN security council resolution.

The gathering also condemned the draconian law of Poto passed by the Indian parliament.
