AUCKLAND, April 1: Northern Districts wicket-keeper Robbie Hart has replaced Adam Parore in the New Zealand side to tour Pakistan this month.

Parore, 31, will retire after the third Test against England at Eden Park which finishes Wednesday.

Hart, 27, is the brother of former New Zealand left-arm spinner Matthew.

“Robbie Hart has been a reliable tradesman with the gloves over the last few years and has been in good form with the bat for Northern Districts this summer,” chairman of selectors Sir Richard Hadlee said Monday.

One-day specialist Chris Harris, who scored an unbeaten half-century on the first day of the third Test, retains his place.

New Zealand will tour without their front-line pace attack of Chris Cairns, Shane Bond, Dion Nash and Shayne O’Connor who are all injured. Left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori has been selected subject to a fitness test.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori has been omitted on medical advice from the one-day side to play Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Sharjah next week.

Vettori, who has nursed an injury to his lower back during the Test series against England, has been replaced by Auckland leg-spinner Brooke Walker.

“Dan’s exclusion from the one-day side is part of the proactive management of his back injury, which the medical team indicated would be necessary some time ago,” said Hadlee.

“The selection of Walker reflects the need to develop another spin bowling option and is reward for the 28 wickets he has taken in domestic cricket this summer.”

Meanwhile, New Zealand medium-fast bowler Chris Drum has announced his retirement from international cricket after just five Tests, New Zealand Cricket said Monday.

A statement from the governing body said Drum, 27, had made himself unavailable for the one-day series in Sharjah and the subsequent tour of Pakistan “to pursue other interests”.

Drum, who made his debut against Pakistan in Christchurch last year, has taken 12 Test wickets with best figures of three for 36 in the first Test against England in Christchurch.

New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming said Drum had told him the current Test against England would be his last.
