Ayaz likely to be named Jr coach

KARACHI, April 1: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), after reshuffling in its management, is likely to make announcement about Ayaz Mahmood as new coach for Pakistan Junior Hockey team in next couple of days.

After the appointment of Olympian Tahir Zaman as new coach of Pakistan senior hockey team, Olympian Ayaz Mahmood will be inducted as new coach for Pakistan junior hockey team.

Tahir Zaman who previously worked as coach of Pakistan National junior hockey team has now been appointed as coach for senior national hockey team in place of Olympian Hanif Khan.

Former national junior and senior hockey coach Ayaz Mahmood, Olympian Rashidul Hasan Olympian Moinuddin were among the best contenders for new coach of National Junior Hockey team and added that one of them is likely to be coach of national junior team, till next Junior World Cup scheduled to he held in Sydney, Australia in 2005.

Ayaz Mahmood already has coached both national junior and senior strings. Besides, he had served as coach of domestic hockey team, PIA, for many years, and remained in touch with domestic hockey. “on his past experience he is best candidate for new job as coach of national Junior hockey string.—PPI
