PPP CWC to discuss referendum

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, April 1: The central working committee of the PPP, scheduled to meet in Larkana on Wednesday, will discuss the political situation in the country, specially the referendum plan given by Gen Musharraf, and decide the party’s future line of action.

So said Punjab PPP President Qasim Zia at a ceremony on Monday at which a former Istaqlal Party office-bearer Tahir Khaleeq joined the PPP.

The PPP leader said the referendum would make the system presidential.

Qasim Zia said his party had already launched a campaign against referendum.

Meanwhile, PPP leaders are due to leave here for Larkana on Tuesday to participate in the death anniversary of the party’s founder chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on April 4.
