FST admits pensioners petitions

Published April 2, 2002

ISLAMABAD, April 1: The Federal Services Tribunal (FST) on Monday admitted the petitions of about 30 pensioners and issued notice to the finance secretary, to explain as to why the Tribunal’s judgment of January 9, had not been implemented.

The Tribunal, while reiterating the judgment of the Supreme Court of February 20, 2001, had directed the finance ministry to compute the personal allowance of pensioners as part of their pension for those who were drawing this allowance and retired between June 1, 1994 to May 23, 1996.

The pensioners stated that the non-implementation of the SC judgment and subsequent refusal of implementation of the FST orders were causing hardship to them.— Our Reporter
