Brothers Sugar Mills closed after farmers’ demonstration

KASUR, April 1: The Brothers Sugar Mills, Chunian, was closed down after some people fired shots in the air during a protest demonstration by the farmers on Monday.

Farmers held a demonstration on the mills premises against the mills management’s highhandedness. They claimed that the management did not pay them in cash and weigh less. They raised slogans against the mills management.

When contacted, mills deputy general-manager Col Zulfiqar (retired) said by telephone that some people resorted to firing in the mill, attacked the general manager’s office and damaged machinery due to which mill could not be operated.

KIDNAP: A girl was reportedly abducted along with cash and gold ornaments in Mojoky village, Changa Manga, on Monday.

Accused Ashiq and his accomplice abducted Fazilat, 15, when she was alone in her house.
