8 robberies

LAHORE, March 31: Robbers struck eight times on Sunday and made off with cash, gold jewellery and three motorcycles worth over Rs3 million in different parts of the city.

Four gunmen stormed into the house of Dr Tanvir Zubairi of the Services Hospital in Block-E of Model Town and held up his family members. The intruders spent some three hours in the house and took away cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs2 million. Dr Zubairi told the police he had sold out his car some days ago and the cash was in his house.

Nadeem was on his way home in Sanda when two gunmen held him up. They snatched Rs12,000 from him. Nadeem tried to escape but he was hit by a wagon. He sustained injuries and was admitted to the Mayo Hospital.

Three gun-toting men burst into the house of Omair in Green Town and made off with cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs50,000.

Thief(s) broke into a house owned by Ejaz Ahmad at Jinnah Park in Shahdara and took away cash and valuables worth Rs150,000. The same gang entered the neighbouring house of Amjad Ali and made off with cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs100,000. Two gunmen drove away with a motorcycle (LXW-4576) and two other bikes (LXJ-8539 and LXA-5370) were stolen from Muslim Town and Civil Lines. — Reporter
