Imran to contest polls from Mianwali
ISLAMABAD, March 31: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan announced on Sunday that he would contest the forthcoming general election from Mianwali.
Speaking to his party workers at a convention in Mianwali, he said after assuming power, his party would provide interest-free loans and electricity on subsidiary rates to small farmers.
He claimed that those steps would not only bring about a green revolution in the country, but would also help the nation free itself from the clutches of the International Monetary Fund.
Mr Khan criticized former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto for “ruthlessly looting the national kitty” for 11 years and transferring the money to Swiss banks.
“Presently,” he said, “both the looters have joined hands on the pretext of saving democracy” and both claim sitting abroad that they still had their vote bank.
He was of the view that in this scenario, only the new generation could bring about a change in the country.
Mr Khan appreciated the President for waiving off general sales tax on life-saving drugs, and termed his cabinet honest. He called upon the workers to take his message to the common people.—APP
