ISLAMABAD, March 28: An unfinished road project in Margalla Hills is posing problems for the local people.

The residents of Talhar and Gokina villages told this scribe that a few months ago, the CDA had started widening the road that linked the Margalla Hills Viewpoint to their villages — situated on the other side of the hills. Heavy machinery was moved to the place for the purpose.

However, the CDA staff abandoned the project midway, leaving clay and crushed stones scattered all over a section of the road. The villagers said it was now very risky to drive through that part of the road. Rain makes things all the more difficult for drivers on this road, which is very steep at places. At least three road accidents took place here during the recent rains.

They also complained that the heaps of road material were spoiling the natural beauty of lush green Margallas.

The villagers claimed that some 5,000 to 7,000 people lived in these villages, most of whom had their workplaces in the city of Islamabad. Besides, hundreds of students also used the road on a daily basis, they added.

They urged upon the concerned authorities to solve the problem on a priority basis.— A Reporter
