Pakistan sends relief for Kabul today


ISLAMABAD, March 27: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the devastation and loss of human life caused by earthquake in the northern Afghanistan.

The government, as a goodwill gesture, has also offered relief assistance to help the Afghan brethren in this hour of need.

The assistance comprises tents, blankets, medicines and food items for the earthquake victims.

As an immediate measure a C-130 aircraft carrying tents, blankets, medicines will be leaving for Kabul on Thursday (March 28, 2002).

Health Minister Dr Abdul Malik Kasi will lead the delegation, comprising Cabinet Secretary Javed Masood and Emergency Relief Cell Director-General Brig M. Ilyas Khan.—APP
